The lagoon is filled with freshwater, yet is separated from the ocean by a narrow sandbar which breeches periodically, allowing seawater to mix in the Catch-and-release water. Check Sport Fishing Regulations. Fishing access along spit between lagoon and Pacific Ocean, and along Eastern shore; best fished by canoe, belly boat, or pram. 15 MPH max. on lake. Partially surrounded by redwood forest. Primitive campgrounds at North end. Environmental camp on only spawning tributary, McDonald Creek. Lagoon is on the West side between Hwy 101 and the ocean.
