Developing California Wildlife: Conservation Challenges, the state’s wildlife conservation strategy, was truly a partnership between the California Department of Fish and Game and the Wildlife Health Center at the University of California, Davis. The Wildlife Health Center managed scoping meetings, expert consultations, conservation workshops, and prepared the report. Fish and Game provided guidance, technical analyses, and critical review and editing.
Fish and Game Director Ryan Broddrick provided clear direction and strong support for the wildlife conservation strategy development. Deputy Directors Banky Curtis, Diana Jacobs, and Sonke Mastrup provided constructive review. Ron Rempel, former Deputy Director of the Habitat Conservation Division, Sandra Morey, former Branch Chief of the Habitat Conservation Planning Branch, and Dale Steele, Program Manager, Species Conservation & Recovery Program, served as Fish and Game’s coordinating contacts and advisors, in addition to commenting on drafts.
Chuck Armor, Glenn Black, Betsy Bolster, Richard Callas, John Carlson, Larry Eng, Becky Jones, Don Koch, Frank Hall, Chris Hayes, Eric Larson, Eric Loft, Darlene McGriff, Becky Miller, Dale Mitchell, Sandra Morey, Kimberly Nicol, Gail Presley, Robert Schaefer, Jeff Single, John Siperek, Kent Smith, Dale Steele, Terri Stewart, Mark Stopher, Dee Sudduth, John Ugoretz, Carl Wilcox
