Shared Habitat Alliance for Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Program

Program Overview

SHARE is designed to improve public access to private or landlocked public land. Participating landowners will be compensated with monetary payment and liability protection for providing access to or through their land for recreational use and enjoyment of wildlife. SHARE is funded with a Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program grant through the USDA Farm Service Agency.

The goals and benefits of the SHARE Program are to create good relationships between recreational users and landowners, provide additional hunting, fishing, and other recreational access on private land.

Recreational users can contribute to the success of the SHARE Program by obeying all DFG regulations, as well as demonstrating courteous, legal, and ethical behavior

What benefits does the SHARE Program provide landowners?

  • Annual payment either per acre or public participant per day.
  • Liability coverage is provided by Section 1573(e) of the Fish and Game Code.
  • Relieve wildlife damage on property.
  • Guidance for wildlife habitat improvements.

What properties qualify for enrollment?

  • Property with any wildlife-dependent recreational activities.
  • Property with road access to isolated or landlocked public lands.

What benefits does the SHARE Program provide the public?

  • Access to private land.
  • Access to public land that is "land locked".
  • More wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities.

Bobcat Ranch Wild Pig Hunt Information

The Bobcat Ranch is located in Yolo County's Vaca Mountain foothills. Approximately 4,000 acres of the ranch's rolling oak woodland will be available for spring and fall hunts. Each hunt is by permit only. Applications for the November 2012 hunt will be available in the fall.

Late Season Goose Hunts
