Conduct and Regulations
Volunteers shall be required to comply with all Department rules and regulations governing the conduct of non-sworn Department personnel. In addition, volunteers shall not place themselves in dangerous situations or get involved in anything that could become confrontational. Volunteers shall immediately back away from dangerous or hazardous situations and notify the dispatch center and a supervisor immediately. Volunteers shall not take any enforcement action, regardless of the circumstances. Should a volunteer unintentionally come across a dangerous situation or observe a crime in progress, the volunteer shall move to a safe location and call for assistance. As unpaid employees, volunteers are entitled to limited benefits which include, but are not limited to: worker's compensation insurance, tort liability coverage, and reimbursement for certain expenses.
