   Image of the DFG Patrol Boat Bluefin and the Motor Vessel Nanuq - The Department of Fish and Game Patrol Vessel Bluefin standing off of the Motor Vessel Nanuq about six miles off the Central California coast. The Nanuq is the platform that the Remotely Operated Vehicle is deployed from that is conducting an assessment of the WW II ship S.S. Montebello that sunk on Dec. 23, 1941 with as much as three million gallons of fuel and oil on board. The U.S. Coast Guard and DFG have been conducting operations for more than a week to assess if any oil has remained on board and if so next steps for the safe mitigation of the ship to protect the pristine coastline.
