Hopeful hunters who submitted applications for the Department of Fish and Game’s (DFG) 2009 Big Game Drawing can now view the drawing results online.

Applicants can determine immediately whether their name was drawn by visiting the DFG Web site at https://biggame.dfg.ca.gov/biggame. Hunters must enter their last name and Department of Motor Vehicles identification number (driver’s license number) or their DFG-assigned identification number in order to retrieve their results.

Successful elk, antelope and sheep tag applicants were notified last week.

Premium deer tags are currently being mailed to successful applicants; deer tag applicants who were not selected in the drawing will also be notified of their status by mail.

Each year, a combined 57,000 hunters enter the drawings for elk, antelope, bighorn sheep and premium deer hunt tags. This year, DFG will distribute 14,000 premium deer tags, 259 pronghorn antelope tags, 332 elk tags and 17 bighorn sheep tags via lottery system.

Hunters who are not selected in the deer drawing are also eligbile for non-draw tags (both restricted and unrestricted). Non-draw tags are issued as second or third choices in the drawing and can also be purchased at DFG regional offices.

The application deadline for this year’s Big Game Drawing was June 2. Questions or problems regarding the retrieval of online results can be directed to any one of DFG’s license sales offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
