Draft MPA Proposals Developed by Work Groups of the MLPA South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group and Revised MPA Proposals Generated Externally to the SCRSG Work Group Process – May 2009

The South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (SCRSG) is the primary source of alternative marine protected area proposals to the MLPA Initiative Blue Ribbon Task Force; however, the MLPA Initiative is an open, transparent process and others have submitted MPA proposals to the task force and SCRSG for review and consideration. Draft proposals developed by the SCRSG work groups and revised proposals submitted from outside the SCRSG work group process ("external") will be analyzed by the MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team, California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and MLPA Initiative staff, and will reviewed by the task force for feedback.

Four draft MPA proposals have been developed by the SCRSG: Draft MPA Proposal Lapis 1 Draft MPA Proposal Lapis 2 Draft MPA Proposal Opal Draft MPA Proposal Topaz

Two revised external MPA proposals have been received: Draft External MPA Proposal A Draft External MPA Proposal B In addition to the four draft proposals and two revised external proposals, the existing array of MPAs has also been evaluated and reviewed. Proposal 0 (zero)
