    Note: At this meeting the commission received the Department of Fish and Game's written preferred alternative for central coast marine protected areas. The department will not make a presentation of the preferred alternative until August 2, 2006.

The California Fish and Game Commission held a series of special hearings to receive public comment on the draft Master Plan Framework submitted to the commission by the Department of Fish and Game on May 23, 2005. Hearings were held on the following dates:

Meetings: Central Coast Regional Stakeholder Group

Central Coast Meeting Formats

Public Meetings: The majority of CCRSG meetings will be formal, public meetings (also known as "plenary" meetings). Public meetings include all members of the CCRSG and contain updates on the MLPA Initiative process, scientific and informational presentations and CCRSG discussions and decisions. CCRSG members will present their suggested MPA arrays and proposals at public meetings. Audio and video archives of the meetings will be available on the MLPA website a few days after each meeting. All public meetings of the CCRSG include a formal public comment period.

Work Sessions: Some CCRSG meetings will be informal work sessions. Work sessions provide CCRSG members with focused, face-to-face opportunities to pursue their charge of developing alternative MPA proposals. CCRSG work sessions are not formal public meetings and are not video taped or webcast. All work sessions are open to members of the public, who may attend as observers; while there is not formal public comment, there are informal opportunities for the public to share their perspectives with CCRSG members and MLPA Initiative staff.
