The South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (SCRSG) is the primary source of alternative marine protected area proposals to the MLPA Initiative Blue Ribbon Task Force; however, the MLPA Initiative is an open, transparent process and others have submitted MPA proposals to the task force and SCRSG for review and consideration. Initial arrays developed by the SCRSG work groups and draft proposals submitted from outside the SCRSG work group process ("external") will be analyzed by the MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team, California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and MLPA Initiative staff, and will reviewed by the task force for initial feedback.
Six draft MPA arrays have been developed by the SCRSG and are expected to be revised and further refined at future SCRSG meetings through September:
Three draft external MPA proposals have been received and potentially may be revised and further refined by the proponents:
In addition to the six draft arrays and three draft external proposals, the existing array of MPAs will also be evaluated and reviewed.
