Round 2 North Coast Draft MPA Proposals

Draft marine protected area (MPA) proposals were developed by the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) North Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (NCRSG) in Round 2 of the north coast MPA planning process. These draft MPA proposals will be analyzed by the MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team (SAT), California Department of Fish and Game (DFG), California Department of Parks and Recreation (California State Parks), and MLPA Initiative staff. They will also be reviewed by the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF).

Four draft MPA proposals were developed by two NCRSG work groups, named "Ruby" and "Sapphire." Each work group also developed separate recommendations for special closures. Information regarding the four draft MPA proposals and four recommendations for special closures is listed below, along with information regarding the existing north coast MPAs (Proposal 0).

In addition to these proposals, the existing north coast study region MPAs will also be evaluated and reviewed.
