Potential environmental impacts of the herring fishery are addressed each year in an environmental document, in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The 2006 Supplemental Environmental Document for Pacific Herring Commercial Fishing Regulations reviews and evaluates proposed regulatory changes for the 2006-07 fishing season, supplementing and in some cases replacing, aspects of the proposed project described in the 1998 Final Environmental (FED) and the Final Supplemental Environmental Documents of 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005. There was no Supplemental Environmental Document for 2003.
