Commercial Fishery Data (PacFIN)
The Pacific Coast Fisheries Information Network (PacFIN) is the nation's first regional fisheries data network. It provides information which enables agencies and industries to track commercial fish catches by area, and to manage and plan more effectively.
Historical Commercial Fishery Data
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Fish Bulletin series is a resource for the study of commercial and recreational fisheries in California, as well as many other topics. It has been continuously published as a monographic series since 1913, but the frequency of publications has decreased in recent years. The Fish Bulletins contains, among other subjects, an in-depth look at the marine fisheries including tables of monthly commercial landings beginning in 1928. It continued to provide annual landings summaries through 1976. Series no. 173 (1990) has a 1977 to 1986 annual summary, the last bulletin to contain summary tables.
With funding from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), the UC San Diego Libraries has made the entire series of California Department of Fish and Wildlife Fish Bulletins available online. The search and retrieval tool used to deliver the Fish Bulletin is available through the Online Archive of California, an initiative of the California Digital Library.
