New License Agent Account Information
NOTICE TO ALL LICENSE AGENT APPLICANTS
Thank you for your interest in becoming a License Agent with the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG). In order to keep you apprised of upcoming changes, we would like to provide you with the following information regarding the new Automated License Data System (ALDS).
In mid to late 2009, the DFG will replace the current paper based licensing system with ALDS. Please note that this change will affect all License Agents and applicants.
The ALDS will consist of a Point of Sale (POS) terminal and printer which will print licenses and other items at the time of purchase. Because the DFG will have a limited number of terminals to provide at no cost, we are seeking to establish a minimum yearly sales volume of $6,000 to qualify for the ALDS equipment at no cost to the License Agent. The qualifying period will be determined by the DFG at a later date to coincide with the implementation of ALDS. All License Agents not meeting this minimum sales volume will have the choice to continue as a License Agent by either purchasing or leasing the ALDS equipment or to discontinue as a License Agent.
In addition to the minimum sales volume under ALDS, there will be a prerequisite for all License Agents to have the following:
- A dedicated phone line for the POS terminal. The DFG highly recommends broadband connectivity (cable, DSL or satellite).
- A bank account for remittance of license sales revenues via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to the DFG. The EFT will be processed on a weekly basis. License Agents will be required to provide specific bank account information to the DFG at the time of enrollment. Currently, License Agents are required to maintain the DFG license sales revenues separate from all other funds. Consignment and Collect on Delivery accounts and payments by credit card or check will no longer be available.
- The completion of a new License Agent application and new contract/agreement.
- Counter space of approximately 12” Height x 27” Width x 14” Deep. Note: POS equipment cabling is minimal, however, cabling for Internet connection and a power source must be considered when locating the new system.
Finally, there will also be a new set of business rules such as staff training requirements; proper care of the POS equipment and proper handling of customer and ancillary data information.
