Special Restrictions: Boats with motors are prohibited.
Description: 13,392 acres of wetlands, sage flats, and farmlands, including 4,000 acre Meiss Lake
Access: From Highway 97 just south of Macdoel, go 5 miles west on Meiss Lake Road
Recreational Use: Type B Area
- Camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing are permitted. A great area for viewing waterfowl, bald eagles and sandhill cranes. See attached birding checklist for additional information on bird species seen at Butte Valley.
Hunting: waterfowl, coots, moorhens, snipe, pheasant and doves is permitted during open seasons.
