Special Restrictions: The Egan Unit shall be open to the use of shotguns, archery equipment or muzzle-loading weapons only, for all hunting seasons. Camping is not allowed.

Access: From Highway 395, go south on Buffum Lane to Wildlife Area entrance.

Description: This wildlife area consists of 5,553 acres of rolling hills, mostly of sagebrush and grasslands. The area was acquired to preserve winter range for the Bass Hill sub-herd of the Doyle deer herd.

Recreational Use: Type C Wildlife Area

  • Hunting, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing are all permitted. Deer, coyotes, California and mountain quail, and golden eagles are a few of the wildlife species that can be seen here.

Hunting: Deer, rabbit, waterfowl, quail, and dove are permitted.

Facilities: None
