Notice of Determination for the Final San Felipe Valley Wildlife Area Land Management Plan in San Diego, California.

Project description and location:

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Department), as Lead Agency, has approved the Final Land Management Plan for the San Felipe Valley Wildlife Area (SFVWA) in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and State CEQA Guidelines.

The SFVWA is located in northeastern San Diego County at the juncture of State Highway 78 and County Highway S-2 (San Felipe Road). It includes approximately 14,175 acres of largely undisturbed land acquired through a series of transactions by the California Wildlife Conservation Board and California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Department). The WA is managed by the Department for its natural resources and for the public's use and enjoyment of those resources. The primary purpose of the LMP is to establish goals and guidelines for the operation, maintenance, and public use of the SFVWA. The Department will use the LMP to help guide the specific tasks for managing the habitats, species, cultural resources, facilities, public uses, and various other activities that occur in the WA.

Public review Period

The draft LMP and IS/ND was circulated for public review for a period of 30 days starting on November 5, 2007. Public comments and the CDFW's responses are located in "Appendix D" within the LMP.

The IS/ND described the project and its potential impacts on the environment, and concluded that the proposed project would not have any significant effects on the environment.
