California Department of Fish and Wildlife

Land Management Planning

Land Management Plans are written to document management goals and objectives, and other necessary information for consistent and effective management of CDFW Wildlife Areas and Ecological Reserves.

Section 1019 of the Fish and Game Code requires the Department to draft Land Management Plans for any property wholly under its jurisdiction that is purchased after January 1, 2002 subject to an appropriation by the Legislature for that purpose. The Department has expended tremendous effort toward land management planning in the last several years and has received funding from recent bond acts to help accomplish this mandate. Many new properties are undergoing planning efforts, while other existing plans are being revised.
