Minutes: It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes of the April 16, 2007 meeting. All members present voted in favor.

Project Directors Report: Ed Pert reported that by the new regulations for Lake Davis increasing the bag limit and changing the procedure for disposal of pike took effect on May 10, 2007 and that the Sacramento Bee had reported on the changes. He noted that the chemical workshop had been held on April 25 with the economic workshop scheduled for May 22. He explained that at the last workshop the media talked to people who had negative things to say about the project. The outreach program is continuing with well owners being contacted and isotope samples being taken. The fish tank was on hand at the Children’s Faire in Quincy, DFG would be assisting at the Mill Pond Fishing Derby, and they were working with CRC Elementary on a bird program. The newsletter has been mailed and new regulations were posted at Lake Davis. A check point is scheduled for May 19 at the lake. Screens have been placed in the tributaries as barriers and interpretive panels are being installed. The Water Quality Control Board has a public hearing scheduled for June 12. DFG has been busy with planning and a brochure will be published early in June.

Mr. Powers suggested that a risk assessment should be performed comparing the water in the Lake with water in other bodies, he noted the need for the public to be presented with a visual interpretation of the risks involved.

Ivan Paulsen noted that he would be meeting with the Rotary Club to discuss the impacts of the new regulations on the Fishing Derby scheduled for June 9.

Agency Reports:

USFS – Lori Woods reported that they are working on the forest closure plan and outreach to local residents. She reported that the campgrounds are open and the water system is in a Lightning Tree. She gave an update on the fire on Grizzly Road and the Camp 5 chip sealing project.

DWR – Lake levels are at 5765.71 elevation, 51,428 acre feet, last year at this time is was at 5772 elevation. 860 acre feet had been lost in the last 30 days. On May 1 discharge was cut to 10 csf.

DHS - Dr. Spath reported that the final document had been submitted and should be available to DFG and the public at the end of the month.

Air Quality – Next month Joe Fish will be invited to attend the meeting.

Plumas County Environmental Health – Jerry Sipe reported that 50 isotope samples were being taken a week.

City of Portola: Mr. Murphy explained problems the City was having with the State on the 6th & Pacific well and asked if Dr. Spath could intervene. He also reported on delays with the treatment plant project.

Economic Issues Working Group: Fran Roudebush reported that the committee had met earlier in the day and were working on confidentiality issues with the real estate appraiser and the forensic economist. She noted they were reviewing both potential individual losses and community losses.

Set next meeting date: The next meeting was scheduled for 1-3 pm on June 18 at City Hall.
