Fishing Clinics

These 45 minute clinics offer instruction in the basics of fishing including knots, casting, rigging, safety, ethics and urban runoff. All equipment and tackle is available to participants and anglers are required to use rods provided. There is no charge for the clinics; however there may be a park entrance fee. Each adult may bring up to 2 children and a driver’s license is required for rod loan. These events are for children ages 5-15.

Most programs begin at 8 AM.  Clinics begin about every 10 minutes with the final clinic starting at 10 AM, or when we have reached the maximum capacity for the day which is usually 150 participants.

Supplemental Fish Stocking

To enhance angler’s abilities to enjoy lakes close to home in the urban area, The Fishing in the City program provides supplemental stocking of Rainbow Trout and Channel Catfish at lakes around the Bay Area.

1 pound rainbow trout (1 pound per fish) are planted in the cool months (generally October – April) and Catfish weighing between 1 and 2 pounds per fish are planted in the early fall and late spring.

The following lakes receive fish in varying amounts at different time of the year. We are unable to provide you with fish stocking information prior to planting; however, you may call (707) 944-5581 for lakes stocked by the Department. Many lakes are also stocked by the local park districts. For up-to-date fish stocking information, go to www.dfg.ca.gov/fish/Hatcheries/FishPlanting/BayDelta.asp.
