School Programs
A limited number of schools are invited to participate in the school based programs. SBFIC serves 3rd grade classes in Santa Clara County. The entire 3rd grade goes through a teacher led study of the local watershed. This is followed by a service club (e.g. Rotary) going into the class to teach the students the basics of fishing: safety, ethics, knots and casting. The entire event concludes with a trip to the lake to go fishing!
If you are a third grade teacher and are interested in having your school participating, please see Parameters for Partners then contact Ethan Rotman at erotman@dfg.ca.gov or (415) 892-0460.
Parents and siblings may attend school fishing events, but they are there in a support role for their child and are not allowed to fish.
