The Department of Fish and Game is required by statute to monitor and restore steelhead populations. Central to this mandate is obtaining information on angler effort and harvest of both wild and hatchery steelhead. The Steelhead Fishing Report and Restoration Card is the only state-wide program designed to gather such data.

  • New! Online Reporting
    • Steelhead Trout anglers may submit their Steelhead Fishing Report and Restoration Cards (report cards) online during the month of January for the prior year
      • Go to SHRC Online DFG Data Portal
        Follow instructions under Requirements on the Data Portal page, starting with "You must have a login account ..."
      • Data entry access begins January 1 and ends January 31, 2010
      • Angler accounts do not expire. Angler can log-in and use the same account year after year
    • Win a Free Fishing Trip!
      • Trout Unlimited of California is offering a free guided steelhead
        fishing trip for one angler who utilizes the online reporting system by
        January 31, 2010. The winner will be selected the first week of February through
        a random drawing of all anglers using the system.
