Adamson was approached by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and asked if he would consider donating the use of one of his existing waterfowl paintings for the 2008 duck stamp. Instead, Adamson offered to paint an original work of art. Adamson retained the original and granted reproduction rights for the stamp.
