John McCamman, Director of the Department of Fish and Game
Director McCamman writes:
I am pleased to once again have the opportunity to lead the Department of Fish and Game (DFG). I have been named Acting Director as of November 2, 2009. I hope to provide sound leadership as we continue our important role as stewards of California's fish and wildlife resources.
I have been with this department since April, 2006 serving in the roles of Chief Deputy Director and Acting Director over those years. I believe this department's committed staff and unrelenting charge toward achieving our mission is unparalleled.
My prior experience ranges from working with small local governments to working in the halls of the nation's capitol. I look forward to using that experience to help collaborate with the myriad partner organizations that will help us protect and preserve the state's fish and wildlife resources. At DFG, we have the immense task of providing for the protection and use of very diverse resources in a state occupied by nearly 37 million people. More importantly, we have the responsibility to be active and productive participants in crafting durable solutions for the countless challenges facing the public's resources held in our trust.
I am proud and thankful for the commitment of Gov. Schwarzenegger and Natural Resources Secretary Michael Chrisman and their staff to the mission of the DFG.
