Key Characters

 "Horse flies" and "Deer flies." Head minute,  body elongate & cylindrical w/ both ends tapered, short siphon on posterior end. Abdominal segments w/ pairs of dorsal, ventral, and lateral prolegs or "creeping welts".
Tolerance usually 8, 5 in Tabanus sp.
