San Joaquin River Restoration Agreement: An historic agreement to restore water flows for salmon in the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam near Fresno while undertaking one of the West‘s largest river restoration efforts was announced by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Friant Water Users Authority (FWUA) and U.S. Departments of the Interior and Commerce.

Draft California Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)Management Plan is Now Available: Public meetings will be held in 3 locations. The deadline for written comments has been extended until Friday, September 22, 2006.

Delta Vision Conference Summary: The Water Education Foundation has produced a summary of the June 2006 Delta Vision Conference. The Water Education Foundation web site has a link to the summary, as well as current information regarding upcoming Delta Vision workshops.

Bulletin 250: Fish Passage: Bulletin 250 is an effort by several agencies to identify man-made barriers to fish passage throughout the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers and their tributaries. The report also describes what is being done to deal with the issues caused by these barriers.

Endangered Riparian Brush Rabbits Released (PDF): On August 30, 2006, 16 riparian brush rabbits were released onto a 350-acre restoration site at the San Joaquin RiverNational Wildlife Refuge west of Modesto.

Blacklock Restoration Project Draft Documents (PDF): The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Blacklock Restoration Project in Suisun Marsh.

Salmon and Steelhead Recovery Workshops (PDF): The National Marine Fisheries Service is hosting two additional workshops in August on its salmon and steelhead recovery plans. The workshops are to be held 8/15 & 8/17/2006.
