CDFW Climate College Opportunities for CDFW and TWS Certification

The level of participation in CDFW’s Climate College can be determined by each individual participant depending on their availability. However, those who wish to receive training certification must meet the participation requirements provided below. Partners and CDFW staff who receive certification through CDFW will be invited to attend the CDFW Climate College Poster Session and Awards Ceremony with Director Bonham, CDFW executive staff, conservation partners, and colleagues at the conclusion of the course!

Reminder: Please register for each individual lecture (or submit your request to be registered for ALL classes) to ensure your participation is accurately tracked by CDFW Climate College staff!

Requirements for CDFW OTD certification and a Certificate of Completion (CDFW staff only)

Note: Each lecture that you register for and attend will be noted by OTD as an hour of training on your training record.

  • Participation in 7 out of 9 classes is required for a certificate of completion from OTD.
    • Climate College staff will track your registration and lecture attendance. If you are unable to watch/attend a lecture live, you must watch the archived presentation within two weeks of its posting and email Registrar@dfg.ca.gov to communicate completion to ensure that you receive credit for attending the class.
  • Course participants must post to the CDFW-only “Climate and Sustainability Roundtable” discussion forum at least three times throughout the duration of the course. Climate College staff will track your participation.
  • Participants must complete and submit a project no later than the final course lecture in May 2013.

Requirements for receiving a CDFW Certificate of Completion (Partners)

  • Participation in 7 out of 9 classes is required to receive a certificate of completion from CDFW. CDFW staff will track your registration and lecture attendance. If you are unable to watch or attend a lecture live, you must watch the archived presentation within two weeks of posting and email Registrar@dfg.ca.gov to inform us that you have viewed the lecture and to ensure that you receive credit for attending the class.
  • Participants must complete and submit a project no later than the final course lecture in May 2013.

Requirements for The Wildlife Society certification (DFG staff and Partners)

CDFW Climate College

The Wildlife Society (TWS) allows a maximum of 40 contact hours in Category I of the Certified Wildlife Biologist Renewal/Professional Development Certificate Program for participation in the CA CDFW Climate College. For more information visit the links below.
